Frequently
Asked Questions
1. Does my company really need all the ABCD solutions?
In today’s cyberspace, a single solution is ineffective in addressing the vast array of threats and sophisticated malwares.
ABCD combines solutions that are not merely compatible, but complementary, creating a holistic solution aligned to CSA’s Be Safe Online measures. Should organisations independently build their cybersecurity ecosystem, they risk leaving gaps in their defences, leaving themselves vulnerable to attack.
Furthermore, ABCD is hands-off, with monitoring and management expertise being left to the MSSP, rather than requiring the organisation to check system and activity logs on their own.
Purchasing these solutions under ABCD is cost effective, while providing the same robustness of defence. 99% of the organisations who have reported being victims of a cyberattack suffered business impact. The price of good cyber defence is a small fraction of the cost of business disruptions and recovery processes.
To check your organisation’s cyber threat readiness, take the Cyber Essentials Mark Self Assessment.
2. My company is small and does not have any valuable data, why would we be attacked?
According to the Singapore Cyber Landscape 2023, SMEs continue to be the most affected by ransomware, both globally and in Singapore. Not only high-value targets are fall prey to these attacks. Especially since SMEs generally lack dedicated resources to counter cyber threats, less resources are required for attackers to attain their goal, making them an easy target. 8 in 10 organisations encountered a cybersecurity incident in 2023, with half of them encountering multiple incidents.
Cyber criminals often seek not only to steal or encrypt data, but a company’s intellectual property (IP), which would greatly nullify a company’s edge over the market.
Organisations who fall victim to cyber attacks not only experience financial consequences due to business disruptions, but also face fines for failing to protect user data.
3. My company already has anti-virus and our own cybersecurity solutions. Why would we need ABCD?
According to the Singapore Cybersecurity Health Report 2023, only 1 in 3 organisations have fully implemented at least 3 of the 5 Cyber Essentials measures. Unless all essential cybersecurity measures are adopted, organisations are still exposed to unnecessary cyber risks.
Legacy antiviruses have difficulties in detecting modern malwares, with over 560,000 new pieces of malware being created each day. Many of these malwares are mutations of pre-existing malwares, evading the rule-based detection of traditional antiviruses. ABCD’s AI-Powered Antivirus is able to detect these malwares and stop threats in their tracks.
Fileless attacks are on the rise, now comprising over 90% of ransomware attacks. While these attacks evade traditional antiviruses, ABCD’s block-first approach only allows whitelisted scripts and applications to run, preventing such attacks. Additionally, ABCD’s Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and User and Entity Behaviour Analysis (UEBA) detects suspicious activity such as unusual user activity and data flow.
With the adoption of cloud, company data often reside in cloud services such as M365 Sharepoint and OneDrive. ABCD defend against cloud data breaches by monitoring for compromised M365 accounts and suspicious data access, including accidental sharing of sensitive files by staff. ABCD plugs the security gap in the shared responsibility model for cloud security, where a significant part of security in cloud services are under the user’s responsibility.
Many businesses employ databases that store sensitive data, and databases are a key target in data breaches. ABCD provides database security for such organisations, whether it is cloud or on-premise databases.
ABCD sends alerts to our trusted MSSP Partners, who take action to protect your data even in the event of a breach.
Through several layers of detection and expert monitoring, ABCD provides far more comprehensive coverage than legacy antiviruses.
4. Is ABCD a CSA-endorsed solution? Is it supported by the government?
ABCD is a government-affiliated and government-subsidised solution. ABCD was formed as a result of CSA CyberCall 2019.
5. Would I be able to purchase individual components of ABCD instead of the entire security suite?
Yes. Organisations are able to purchase individual components, be it Antivirus, Cloud Security, Database Security, User and Entity Behaviour Analytics, or Endpoint Detection and Response.
However, it is recommended that organisations purchase ABCD as a whole, in order to gain full security coverage and simplify the management of cyber defence measures.
